Lawrence is a great place to live and do business. We like to get to know our customers. And we promise to treat you like a human, not a number! You are unique. No two people are exactly alike, not even twins. Why buy a computer built for the masses and large corporate profits? You deserve a computer as unique as you. Whether that means business, college, sharing photos/videos, gaming, or just video chatting with the grandkids, UNI can build a PC specifically fit for your needs.
PCs have gotten bad wrap, mostly because mass retailers have sold millions of poor quality machines. Like many things, a computer is only as good its individual parts. Knowing that, UNI is constantly researching and testing the latest products to bring you the highest quality parts. In a college town, theres no shortage of tech savvy folks who pass themselves off as computer technicians. Were the ones they call for help. Why pay for them to learn as they go? Why not get it done right the first time?

I first enjoyed the service of Lance Keltner when he was a college kid working at this same shop. Since then he bought the business and expanded its scope. That was about 20 years ago and he has been my go to guy ever since. I was on his UNICARE+ service since it first opened, but when I retired, in an attempt to shave my budget, I left the service.
The thing is, my computer did not care that I had retired and I kept needing expert service and advice. It turned out that it was for less expensive to have the advantages of UNICARE+ than to do it piece meal. He and his team are S000000 good at what they do and they do not like defeat - persistence is in their genes.

I have always been pleased with their service. I have used them to fix other computer issues in the past. They are very knowledgeable and fair. Recently, I took an older computer in which would not power up. They diagnosed it quickly, but unfortunately the computer is too old to repair. I will definitely be taking the computer back there to transfer my files onto a new machine or to storage.

Probably capable, but General Manager EXTREMELY arrogant. After speaking with the GM, I will be going to Daves Computers in Tecumseh; 'would rather walk that speak again with someone so condescending. I had questions on working with them and was treated so rudely that I wrote my first review online EVER. This company does not deserve to be in business with that sort of attitude being rewarded. UNI is the first place I go whenever any of my computers needs service or repair. I like to do a lot of repairs myself to save money, and often order parts through UNI to ensure I'm getting the right part for my machine. They are always extremely friendly, helpful and informative. The UNI Care+ plan is excellent, as it covers all the computers I own for basically all service, repair, and antivirus needs, and is definitely worth the money.
The only time I ever had a problem was once when I brought a computer in for virus removal. The treatment they gave it did not fully remove the effects of the virus, but I brought it in the next day and they were able to figure out the problem and fix it within a day, and didn't charge me for the additional labor. Honesty and integrity are rare these days, especially in service industries, but UNI has both.

I would highly recommend UNI Computers. The staff gives excellent customer service. What I like best about UNI Computers is they have the knowledge and ability to explain things in terms regardless of your computer knowledge. They are honest about products. If you explain how you plan to use a computer they are not afraid to advise you against a computer that will not meet your needs. Prices are competitive as well. Great job UNI Computer Team!

They were able to take apart my computer and find the issue with my battery right in front of me. They were also very friendly and helpful, and gave me a much better deal than other computer repair stores. Best Buy could only even look at my computer if I sent it in to their repair store where it would take two weeks to get it back, and for a much larger price than UNI Computers was charging. I had a great experience with UNI and highly recommend!

I absolutely love UNI and have for years. They provide awesome service. The staff is fantastic. It's always the first place I think of for my computer needs, be they repairs, products, or replacements. And their prices are more than reasonable! Check them out. No.check them out FIRST! You won't regret it.

Stay away. A few weeks ago I spent close to $300 to fix a laptop I bought 18 months ago. I was convinced to buy a $90 annual service plan. When the computer wouldn't operate again last week I took it back to Uni where I found out about the "fine print" on the service plan didn't apply. I was told it would cost $800 or more to fix it and I should buy a new machine from them for $1,599. My $90 "service plan" was worthless. I took the machine elsewhere and got a new battery installed, including labor for $200.38.

I don't recommend anyone who uses their computer for business or school have it worked on at Uni Computers. They did GREAT work for me a year or so ago, but this time, they completely failed to do what they had agreed to, and left me without a working laptop computer when I very much needed it for my job. After agreeing to make a simple but profitable repair on my laptop for $129 on the Friday before a three-day weekend, Amin (the manager) called me on Tuesday of the next week to say they had not done the work because they found an almost invisible crack in the bottom cover of the laptop.
He said they would not do the work unless they were allowed to replace the bottom cover. He said he had tried to call me on Friday, but my phone logs showed no call from Uni. I use this computer for my job. As per our agreement, I had bought the replacement parts and taken Friday off so they could do this work, and had pressing work to do the next week, so their failure to do as they had promised and their after-the-fact notification that they had not done it was a huge problem for me.
The work in question required zero technical skills - replacing a keyboard with a broken spacebar, and a damaged but working power port - so I watched a Youtube video of the job, bought compressed air and heat sink compound at Radio Shack, and did it myself. The crack in the bottom cover was not a problem, and the computer works perfectly - I am writing this review using it.
I knew Uni would make a good profit off this job - it would have taken a half hour for someone who knew what they were doing- but I figured taking it to them would save me time. I was wrong.

I have dealt with this company 4 times in the last year and each visit was exceptional. Prompt service, efficiency, very helpful in explaining things and solving my computer problems. I will never go anywhere else for these kind of services. A special thanks to Amin who has been very patient and helpful. Yes, I would definitely recommend UNI (I already have) to others. Keep up the great customer service!

These guys are great! I needed to get a new gaming PC after my last one needed to be retired in 2014. I gave Adam a price-range, and he showed me the best hardware available. The custom rig has been humming along beautifully since day 1. The 3-year warranty is nice too. I brought my PC in the other day and they were able to get my too-old games playing on my brand new computer. These guys are super knowledgeable, and very courteous. They are worth every penny you spend. If they can't fix it, no one can. Your computer is a good hands with UNI!

I didn't buy my laptop at UNI but I certainly will next time. An independent computer service shop is so important, and they do a great job. Once or twice a year an issue comes up that stumps me. Each time they have figured it out on the spot, and generally do something else too while I'm there, like installing Adblock. which made me pretty happy. Friendly, no attitude. I'm very impressed and happy they are here in Lawrence.

Our small business recently contracted with UNI Computers to replace some older computers, upgrade existing computers, and install new software for both. The consultation was easy and quick and I never felt pressured to buy more than what we needed. The quotation was extremely competitive. Installation and setup was prompt and the technician was very accommodating, to the point that we were able to keep working through most of the install. We got replies right away for any questions that did come up after the install and our new network is running great. UNI's quality of service and value are very impressive!

I took these people a Dell laptop that was throwing a fatal blue screen "executive worker thread is being terminated" error. I had researched this a little before taking the machine in and was expecting to find that there were driver problems, which they should have been able to fux relaticvely inexpensively, but when the tech called, he said the hard drive was going bad.
I was not inclined to replace the hard drive at that time, so I picked up the computer, having paid for just the diagnostic. I took it home and ran a restore on the machine to restore it to its initial configuration from when I purchased. Then I loaded 3 years worth of Microsoft Windows updates and several pieces of software. At no time did I have a hard disc problem, so now I have the computer back in working order without paying UNI 150 dollars to replace a hard drive that appafrently didn't need replacing. I am, however, still out the 45 dollars they charged for this bogus diagnosis.
