I have no relationship with this company, and they violate the do not call list by leaving me voicemails looking for someone to take one of their support tickets. I don't support companies that do not respect the do not call list, and a quick search shows their reputation is quite poor.

Been working with them for about 6 months now, and have been mostly enjoying it. The pay comes in on time (plus or minus a day or two) and I've only ever had a couple problems with pay, in which my check out time was not entered correctly by the tech. The pay CAN be great, but you do have to fight for it, which is why I give it 2 stars. The tech at the technician assignment center who gives you the work order will try to talk your rate down significantly, to a point where it is almost not even worth your time.

If that happens, which it will, just hold firm on the rate you have given, and always shoot for a higher price than you actually are going for, as they will be much more likely to accept your rate if they think they are getting you to do it for less than you initially wanted.

We gave Barrister one more chance after we were relentlessly spammed by emails and calls from them as well as offered a laughable pay rate for a 3-hour drive to a tech job. The Barrister supervisor agreed on our HOURLY rate, and said that we would be paid with their speed pay option and that the fees would be waived for that. They also promised that we would not be contacted for any job requests outside of our service area. GUESS WHAT!

None of that was true. We're having to fight with Barrister now because of the agreed upon terms that they won't honor, and they're still calling us for job requests 3 hours away. We submitted a dispute and were told that they're only paying us for one hour our of the 4-5 hours we spent, and that they're still charging for the speed pay. If you're looking for tech support for your business, go with local tech support and save yourself trouble.

I'm a potential technician that signed up for them when I was really young. They now keep calling me even though I've asked them to remove my number easily 5+ times. I've now blocked their number which I would recommend you do. If they can't manage to avoid harassing people, what else are they doing poorly?

The technical service desk representatives are horrible. There must be some disconnect in understanding. My last experience with the service desk the representative simply stopped talking. She just stopped. She wouldn't respond to anything I said until she put me on mute and I ended up hanging up. They keep offering me jobs that are 5-6 hours away.

They obviously don't pay for drive time so these jobs would be costing me more money than I'd make and when I say it's too far, they argue with me. They must be under pressure to schedule these jobs because they shouldn't be arguing with their techs to take jobs. They're completely unprofessional. I used to do phone support and I would never say to a tech "Look Man." There are many other better contractors out there. Just go with them.

I made the mistake of signing up with this company as an IT professional. I have only done one service call job with this company, and it was a terrible experience. They paid virtually nothing for hours at a job site regarding an HP printer. It literally took hours to get a hold of Barrister's tech support. During that whole time, I was at the customer site, waiting.

This was back in Feb. of 2017. I have not done any jobs with them since then. However, I have asked them literally for years now to stop calling, emailing and otherwise harassing me. They are extremely unprofessional. Even signing up with this terrible company was entirely unpleasant. They pay virtually nothing, and don't care. I have told them repeatedly to please remove me from their systems, and never to call, email or contact me ever again.

They continue to ignore me, and I get easily 6 or more calls a day. I have no idea how to make them stop. It might involve sending a cease and desist letter at this point. For the love of all that is holy, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS HORRID COMPANY.

I have worked with Barrister for enough years i can't remember when i started, but i have noticed a number of negative reviews lately and wanted to respond to them. Barrister has been a responsible partner for me over these years, with a few bumps in the road, some caused by my carelessness, some caused by business model changes at Barrister, and some other things.

But i have found that Barrister keeps working at improving their system. They respond to complaints about their processes, they pay according to their timeline (i am on the 30 day payment plan) and call me when there is a problem with my work that we need to correct. I have found the ability to schedule my work according to my needs to be a major benefit for my lifestyle, as i help care for farm duties, child care, and friends and other customers that have emergencies that i can sometimes fix for them.

I do wish there were other technicians that would work for Barrister so they wouldn't call me to travel 2+ hours to service a printer that only takes 15 minutes of time. I believe it is hard for Barrister to recruit reliable technicians. How does a company test for responsibility in it's contractors? It is true that there are sometimes long wait times to reach the technical support people when there are problems with the job.

I have used various ways of working around those problems, with good success. It is also well known that people who have negative feelings about things tend to be more vocal than people who have positive feelings about things. For example, me. This is the first time i have rated Barrister in the many years i have contracted work for them. But since i enjoy fixing things, enjoy problem solving, enjoy getting people back to work using their electronic devices (printers, computers, networks, etc.) i have enjoyed working with Barrister to do these things.

It is true that Barrister squeezes as much work as it can out of it's contractors for as little money as it can pay for it. I have to be as knowledgeable as any contractor to make sure i make money on each job. Sometimes i win, sometimes i lose. There are times in the bidding process we use to set the pay for each job where i have to say, "If you can find someone else to do the work for less, go ahead.

I have given you my price.", and depending on the job i sometimes (often) get called back and they agree to pay me for my bid. If there were more technicians nearer each job, they wouldn't have to pay me so much to travel there! And i make more money, percentage wise, for jobs that are less than half an hour's drive from my location. So all you reliable technicians out there that can schedule break-fix jobs for tomorrow, sign up. I get tired of travelling 6 hours to do jobs that at least a handful of people within 15 minutes of the job could do.

I have been doing jobs arranged through Barrister on and off for 5 years now. I have seen the company go through hurricane Katrina and build back up. The company has never given me anything but exemplary service, they have always kept me moving from job to job. I only had one time where a payment was excessively late, but it was not their fault. The vendor had held for review that particular job and they were waiting on the customer to reply to their survey (I did get paid by the way).

The Barrister app they created was a fantastic tool which helps us check in and out of jobs quickly and efficiently. It allows us to find jobs in our areas to sign up for too. TL:DR Barrister has grown to become a highly professional service which us a great group to work with.

Three years of trying to work with this company has shown me that Barrister is horrible for both techs and end users. Every job is a battle. Very disorganized company with constant misinformation. They will not acknowledge mistakes and always shift the blame and financial responsibility onto techs. I am a responsible tech with a thriving business - I tried very hard to make this work as they do have a lot of work available.

In the end they turned me loose because I was reluctant to do something unethical that they were asking of me. To make matters worse they will not even respond to my emails requesting an official reason for termination. For over 3 months I have continued to receive "we are working on it and will get back to you". A while back they solicited me for a positive Google review to offset their many negative reviews.

I could not in good conscience give them a positive review at that time. I held my tongue in hopes that things would get better so I could give a positive review. Unfortunately they never did and I was forced to post this review. Overall opinion: Barrister is a large, legitimate company with a lot of good work available. However, the fact that they are unwilling to learn from their mistakes is holding them back from being a truly good company. I would caution both techs and end users to not deal with this company. I can almost guarantee you will not have a pleasant experience.

I'm not sure if litigation can ever be described as a pleasure, but Richard's approach makes it more palatable than would otherwise be the case. Like most barristers he knows the law but for me, his big plus is a well developed strategic and tactical approach which encompasses use of the court process, combined with his openness to real world dialogue.

I did worked for 7 years as independent contractor with this company. Never got any problems with pay. They paid for all contracts they give me. I can always negotiate rates if needed. They also paid all expenses for me to get certified and get necessary security clearances to work on government contracts. This company also paid 100% for my one-week long trip to major computer manufacturer site for training purposes.

While on training Barrister also paid me very good hourly rate and covered all my meal and entertainment expenses for that week. They require tech to follow simple set of rules in order to get paid: Keep up with appointments, provide good customer and technical service, submit all information and paperwork in time. Couple minuses: ( that is why i rated it 4 starts only) Long wait for customer service on the phone when calling in to close call ( some times 25-30 minutes but they getting much better now) and low troubleshooting level for initial calls from customers.

Often I will come to work site and find that problem not as described in work order. Parts return process is rather inefficient and painful if return label was not provided in original package. Other than that it is a good company to have business with! I do recommend this company to my customers and, so far there were no negative feedback about their service.
