Casual Techs The company was founded in March 2011 by Mark Sicat. The computer repair industry in Hawaii is diluted with multiple consulting firms and freelance technicians. Almost all computer repair services can be completed by local competitors except for clean room data recovery. This service was previously only available from mainland companies. Casual Techs is the first and only data recovery company in the state of Hawaii, with an onsite ISO class 5 clean room solution.

All other PC repair companies resell clean room data recovery services from mainland providers. These local computer repair companies then ship your precious data to clean room facilities on the mainland that have huge overhead expenses. These operating expenses are passed onto their customers.

Over the past 10 years, the founder, Mark Sicat has served as a local field service engineer, contracting warranty repair work for major OEMs (original equipment manufacturers). These include Dell, Apple, Sony, Lexmark, Cardinal Health (Pyxis), EMC (Data General), VanguardMS & Canon, among others. The firm is a minority owned, local company, with its first location in Wahiawa Heights.

Data Recovery
Report
The true process of data recovery is complicated and requires the use of the right equipment. Running an off-the-shelf or internet downloaded data recovery application could possibly do more harm to your data than good. Without releasing proprietary trade secrets, Casual Techs has developed a unique combination of data recovery hardware, software and extraction techniques to maximize success on any data recovery effort.

How to easily repair a video card that is experiencing corruption such as garbled video. Casual Platter Swap - Casual Techs
Casual Platter Swap - Casual Techs
The spindle motor shorted out on this hard drive. A full platter swap was required to attempt recovery.
Casual Techs - Western Digital Drive Stiction
Casual Techs - Western Digital Drive Stiction
A hard drive that I received was making a 2-1 beeping noise that repeated five times. Similar to the Seagate beep, Western Digital digital ROYL drives had this issue as well.
How to hunt Peacock!
How to hunt Peacock!
It is very important to maintain your focus and strike at the right moment! Do not attempt this at home! If you do, then please explain why you have a peacock in your house. I hear peacocks like huts better than houses. What is a hut? Wait, I'm confused.
Read/write head crash - Seagate 7200.11 - Casual Techs
Read/write head crash - Seagate 7200.11 - Casual Techs
I received a hard drive that had the Seagate "beep of death." After disassembly, the problem was a seized spindle motor, but the damage was done by a fall and caused a read/write head crash onto the platters. Once the read/write head "crashes" onto a platter, data recovery is highly unlikely at best.
BF3 Caspian Border kills - Headshots - Longshots
BF3 Caspian Border kills - Headshots - Longshots
I decided to record a round of BF3 in Caspian Border, a nice large map with advantages for all classes and vehicles. I know there a ton of BF3 videos out there, but thanks for watching anyhow.
Casual BF3 Basejump
Casual BF3 Basejump
Playing Battlefield 3 on PC, I couldn't find a populated server for a certain map, so I decided to create a basejumping video. Nothing spectacular, just boredom as I waited for more players to join.
Casual Failed Diode Removal
Casual Failed Diode Removal
A hard drive was received for data recovery that wouldn't power up. Smoke emitted from the unit and the issue was found to be a failed diode. Since this diode failed-short, it had to be removed. A diode that fails in the open position is fine, but over-voltage protection is no longer present.
Stuck Spindle Seagate 7200.12 - Casual Techs
Stuck Spindle Seagate 7200.12 - Casual Techs
A client's Seagate 7200.12 was making a steady, faint beeping noise. The platters weren't spinning and the drive seemed dead. This is usually stiction (when the read/write heads stick to the platter) or a stuck spindle motor.
Casual Keyboard Cleaning - Casual Techs
Casual Keyboard Cleaning - Casual Techs
A laptop wouldn't post/power on due to a keyboard short. After replacing the keyboard, the new keyboard didn't function 100%. I took the keyboard apart and cleaned the contacts on the key matrix. It worked like a charm. Casual Techs is the first data recovery company in the state of Hawaii capable of ISO class 5 clean room data recovery. If you need/want a paper certified technician that wears a monkey suit, please look elsewhere. We are casual technicians with proven experience. No bullsh*t here, no fix, no charge. http://casualtechs.com

My computer basically melted down and all of the information on the hard drive was inaccessible. I took it to two IT places, and they couldn't recover the data. I was looking into mailing the hard drive to a place on the mainland, and then came across Mark's website. He took it apart in his clean room and was able to recover all of my data, and for much cheaper than prices I had been quoted from other places. He even got my computer working again. I was very impressed with his service and continuous updates.
